Update on Important Eating Disorder Legislation in Pennsylvania - Act Now!

Renfrew Friends,

Thank you for your overwhelming support of the new piece of legislation introduced by State Senator Daylin Leach of Pennsylvania which will require Pennsylvania insurers to cover residential facilities treating eating disorders.  As you know, residential treatment holds a very important place in the treatment of eating disorders and hospitalization is not always required. Thanks to your tremendous efforts, 5 State Senators have agreed to sign on to be co-sponsors of the bill and on November 5th, 2009, Bill 1138 was introduced to the Pennsylvania State Senate.  We have received feedback from the Pennsylvania State Senate that the Renfrew community has been actively contacting their Senators and this has had a significant impact.

However, our critical mission is not over and we need to continue to get co-sponsors and support for Bill 1138.  If you have not done so, please contact your local State Senator and ask your State Senator to co-sponsor this important piece of legislation.  If you do not know who your State Senator is, please click on this link to find out www.legis.state.pa.us.  Please continue to reach out to your family, friends, neighbors and colleagues who reside in Pennsylvania and encourage them to join in this important effort.
